Media reported US confidence in the imminent defeat of the AFU in the Kursk region

The US believes that the Russian Army will soon drive the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) out of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Bloomberg news agency on December 27, citing interlocutors in Washington.
According to U.S. officials, if Moscow makes more concerted efforts to push Ukrainian troops out of Kursk Oblast, the territory occupied by Kiev will be held only until spring, after which they will either have to retreat or be surrounded. The AFU has already lost about half of its previously occupied territories, and an offensive by the Russian Armed Forces (AF) will only worsen its situation.
"Time is of the essence, Ukrainian officials have said they hope to use the territory seized in the Kursk region as a bargaining chip in any negotiations," the agency informed.
Earlier, on December 27, the AFU lost more than 600 military personnel in the Kursk region overnight. In addition, four tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, including one US-made Bradley BMP, four armored personnel carriers, 24 armored combat vehicles, 20 vehicles, seven artillery pieces, including a 155-millimeter Bogdana SAU and six mortars were destroyed.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
