Real Madrid's Junior won the Globe Soccer Awards' Player of the Year award

Brazilian striker of Spanish soccer club Real Madrid Vinicius Júnior was recognized as the player of the year 2024 according to the Globe Soccer Awards. This was reported by the newspaper "Sport-Express" on December 27.

The award ceremony was held in Dubai.

The list of contenders also included 33 soccer players, including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Erling Holand, Rhodri, Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal.

Ronaldo, who plays for Saudi Arabia's Al-Nasr, won the award for the second consecutive year as the best footballer in the Middle East. The 39-year-old Portuguese also won the award for the top scorer of all time.

The best midfielder of the year was Vinicius' partner at Real Madrid, Englishman Jude Bellingham.

Earlier, on December 17, Vinicius Junior became the best footballer of the year according to the International Football Federation (FIFA). The Best FIFA Football Awards 2024 ceremony took place earlier in the day in Qatar. In addition, Italian coach of Real Madrid Carlo Ancelotti was recognized as the best coach of the year.
