A case has been opened against lawyers in the case of murder of Kazakh minister's wife

Against the lawyers Zhanna Urazbakhova and Gabit Bekitaev in the case of murder of his wife by former Minister of Economy of Kazakhstan Kuandyk Bishimbayev initiated a criminal case for disclosure of data of pre-trial investigation. This was reported on December 27 by the agency "KazTAG", this information was confirmed by the police in Almaty.

It was noted that the lawyers allegedly disseminated through the media and social networks information about the course of the investigation, as well as deliberately disrupted investigative actions and ignored the mandatory participation in procedural activities.

In addition, the Kazakhstani agency specified that the defendants are also lawyers of the former wife of businessman Alexander Belovich, Lilia Anoshina, who is suspected of fraud - an application against her was filed by her ex-spouse. Urazbakhova claims that an information campaign to publish fakes has been organized against her and Anoshina.

In November, the media circulated information that Bishimbayev had allegedly disappeared from the colony. However, later representatives of the Criminal Executive System Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan denied this information.

In November 2023, the former Minister of Economy of Kazakhstan was arrested for the murder of his wife near the VIP-cabin of a restaurant in Astana. He pleaded guilty only to inflicting grievous bodily harm on his wife and did not intend to kill her. Bishimbayev stated that he hit his wife on the parts of the body where it is impossible to "cause substantial harm to health". The mother of the deceased emphasized during the hearing that her daughter was killed for eight hours.

Bishimbayev was sentenced to 24 years in prison on May 13, 2024. He must also pay court costs of 2.3 million tenge (about 478 thousand rubles) to the state and transfer 103.5 thousand tenge (about 21.4 thousand rubles) to the victims' compensation fund.
