Somnologist, member of the Russian Society of Somnologists Pavel Kudinov told about the unexpected danger of snoring.

In a conversation with "Radio 1" on Friday, December 27, the specialist noted that snoring is a sound arising from the fact that the soft palate and palatine uvula rattles in the air flow. It is often an outward sign of autonomous breathing in sleep. Narrowing of the airway can also lead to sleep breathing stops.

According to a somnologist, sleep breathing arrests are most often caused by narrowing of the airway. This occurs due to chronic tonsillitis and obesity. If there are many such breathing stops, it threatens stroke, heart attack, sudden death in sleep and also leads to diabetes, obesity and daytime sleepiness.

In October, pediatric dentist and orthodontist Konstantin Krylov warned that an improper bite can cause snoring in a child. Also snoring in a child can cause allergic rhinitis, neoplasms in the nasal cavity or a crooked septum, notes 360.ru.

In September, otorhinolaryngologist Natalia Lukan told "Gazeta.Ru" that snoring can lead to the development of cardiovascular diseases and their complications, as well as atherosclerosis and heart failure. Such pauses can last from 15 seconds to several minutes, clarifies the site kp.ru. She explained that during a brief respiratory arrest, vital organs experience oxygen starvation, RT writes.

In May, cardiologist Polina Kontzedailo told us what diseases snoring can indicate. First of all, snoring can indicate the presence of diseases of the ENT organs that cause nasal breathing difficulties.

In January, a survey showed that 38% of Russians found snoring the most annoying sound. As writes NSN, also in the anti-rating included the squeak of Styrofoam on the glass and the ringing of the alarm clock.

Earlier, psychiatrist Ruslan Vorobyov warned of the risk of sleep paralysis in those sleeping on their backs. This is probably due to the fact that such a posture contributes to additional obstruction of the respiratory tract due to relaxation of the muscles of the pharynx and tongue in sleep and thus contributes to snoring and night apnea, reports the agency of city news "Moscow".
