Russian sailors, who survived the wreck of the dry cargo ship Ursa Major in the Mediterranean Sea, flew from Madrid to Russia. This was reported in the Russian Embassy in Spain on December 27.

"On December twenty-seventh, Russian sailors who survived the shipwreck of the cargo ship Ursa Major, flew from Madrid to Russia," - stated in a message published in the Telegram-channel.

It was specified that the embassy had provided the sailors with all the necessary documents for their return to Russia.

The Russian dry cargo ship Ursa Major wrecked in the Mediterranean Sea on December 24. Two people were missing, 14 crew members were rescued. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry's Situation and Crisis Center department, the incident occurred after an explosion in the engine room. A criminal case was opened for violation of the rules of safety of movement and operation of water transport in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

On December 27, the press service of the ship's owner - Oboronlogistika Group - said that the Norwegian dry cargo ship refused to take on board the surviving sailors of the sinking Ursa Major, citing some kind of ban. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said at the time that such an act of the crew could not be forgiven. The Kremlin called the refusal of the Norwegian ship to rescue the Russians an egregious case.

Later, the Norwegian company Oslo Bulk said that the refusal of the crew of the Oslo Carrier 3 to take on board the Russian sailors from the Ursa Major was due to the order of the rescue ship that was on its way to the scene of the accident.
