The terrorist attack at the Christmas fair in Magdeburg could have been avoided if the authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany had not ignored the warning of the Saudi authorities about the danger of Taleb Al-Abdulmohsen, a native of the Arab country, who was there. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on December 27.

The diplomat noted that when the first shock of the tragedy passed, the media and law enforcement officials began to find out the reasons that prompted the man to commit a terrorist attack. After that, "extremely disturbing details" surfaced.

"It turns out that after Al-Abdulmohsen moved to Germany, Saudi Arabia sent four times (!) official diplomatic notes to the German Foreign Ministry and intelligence services that he might have extremist views. Moreover, this information was also received by the United States," Zakharova pointed out in her Telegram channel.

However, the official authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany simply lowered this information to the regional level. And in the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt conducted a formal check, after which they concluded that the man who moved from another country "does not pose any threat."

"In fact, Berlin did not heed, and in fact ignored numerous warnings. Apparently, were again busy looking for "Russian hackers", and that they closed our consulates general, expelled Russian diplomats or fought with the domestic media," - stated the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

In the evening on Friday, December 20, a car crashed into a crowd of people at a fair in Magdeburg. In addition to the five dead, more than 200 people were injured, many were hospitalized in extremely serious condition. Authorities are treating what happened as a terrorist attack.

Soon the suspect was detained - a native of Saudi Arabia born in 1974, he was arrested. Information about the presence of an explosive device in his car was not confirmed, but there was found a will. It was also reported that the man had drugs in his blood. He explained his actions by the poor treatment of refugees from his country by the German authorities.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Polish President Andrzej Duda, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechayev expressed their condolences to the families of the victims. Scholz visited the site of the tragedy on December 21 and said it was important to investigate the attack.
