There is an opinion that herbal teas can reduce the harm from alcohol. This question becomes especially relevant in the run-up to the New Year feast. On whether this method really works, "Izvestia" was told to "SM-Clinica" nutritionist Elena Ustinova on December 31.

"If a person has already gotten drunk and feels bad from alcohol, can herbal teas offset the effect? It should be understood that alcohol is very quickly digested, faster than all other food. And if it has already happened, it will not be possible to neutralize its harm with ordinary home remedies," - said Ustinova.

According to her, all that can be done is to drink more water so that the end products of alcohol come out of the body faster.

"So, if a person gets drunk, it is necessary to just steal him away with water. There's no magic in herbal teas. It's about the total volume of fluid," the doctor summarized.

Earlier, on December 22, Tatyana Meshcheriakova, a nutritionist and expert in the field of healthy eating at Level Kitchen service, told Izvestia that it is better to choose light vegetable salads from both raw and heat-treated products, with accents on different vegetables for the New Year's feast. Speaking of hot dishes, she specified that everything that can be steamed or baked is welcome. At the same time, fried and smoked versions are best excluded, as they are more caloric and contain a lot of excessive E additives.
