Media reported the detention of Assad's relatives in Lebanon with fake passports


Relatives of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad were detained at Beirut airport. This was reported by Al Nahar TV channel on December 27.
It was specified that the wife and daughter of the politician's cousin Dureida tried to leave Lebanon with false passports.
On December 23, CNBS reported that a number of senior officials of the Assad government fled to Lebanon shortly before the regime change. At the same time, Lebanese Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi reported that none of them had managed to enter the country.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reported on December 8 that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, after negotiations with the opposition, left the post of head of state and left the country, instructing to carry out the transfer of power peacefully. The National Coalition of Revolutionary and Opposition Forces of Syria said it was working on the formation of a transitional authority. The country is expected to hold a referendum.
On December 24, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) told Izvestia that the country has begun trials against surrendered military personnel associated with the Assad regime.
The situation in Syria escalated as a result of a major attack by armed formations in Aleppo and Idlib, which began on November 28 and led to the Syrian army's retaliation.
