Russians told about how they decorate the Christmas tree for the New Year


More than half of the surveyed Russians (66%) always decorate the Christmas tree on New Year's holidays, analysts of Yandex Real Estate, who conducted a survey of citizens' opinions on the preparation for the holiday on New Year's Eve, told Izvestia on December 28.
Another 20% said that they do it if they plan to celebrate the New Year at home. And someone does without decorations - 14%.
At the same time, 64% usually limit themselves to a Christmas tree or pine decorations, such as a wreath or lapniki. For 35% of people buying decorations has become a separate tradition, so it is important for them to think everything through.
Also, Russians appreciate the practicality of Christmas decor, making a choice in favor of artificial Christmas trees (69%). At the same time, medium-sized fir trees up to 1.5 meters in height are most in demand now (38%). The second place in popularity is shared by artificial Christmas trees up to 1.7 m and 2 m - 20% each, respectively. And small decorative fir trees turned out to be the favorite decoration of only 15% of Russians. At the same time, every third respondent would put a tree of a larger size, if the meterage of the apartment would allow it.
At the same time, more than half of the surveyed Russians (54%) noted that they like to buy garlands, lanterns and scented candles for the holiday. 13% of respondents said that they prefer to make New Year's decorations with their own hands, most often it is wreaths of twigs or unique crafts for the Christmas tree. Also 13% admitted that their favorite New Year's decorations are Soviet Christmas decorations.
If decorations for New Year's Eve need to be bought, respondents most often choose one or two new elements of New Year's decor, adding them to last year's (38%). About 30% try to be more environmentally friendly and buy decorations only when necessary. And for some it is important to update the decor annually, as it gives a sense of holiday (14%).
Earlier, on December 19, it was reported that this year the leaders in the number of purchases in the pre-New Year season were artificial Christmas trees - from cast to LED. They accounted for 56% of the total number of such goods in the checks, and natural, both cut down and in pots, - 44%, follows from the data of the bank "Russian Standard". A year earlier, on the contrary, natural trees were in the lead with a noticeable gap. They accounted for 65% of purchases.
Before that, on December 13, Vera Serezhina, a medical expert of the medical company LabQuest, told Izvestia that the main advantage of natural spruce is the release of essential oils rich in phytoncides, which have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. They disinfect the air, strengthen the immune system and nervous system, have a beneficial effect on pulmonary respiration. However, these benefits do not last long.
