The third monument to Princess Olga will be erected in Pskov

A monument to Princess Olga will be erected in Pskov on the airport square. It was created by sculptor Vitaly Shanov. The project of the monument was approved by the Town Planning Council.
As the head of the city Boris Elkin told, sculptor Shanov is known for his works all over Russia. He created the bas-relief and facade sculptures of the Main Temple of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Moscow, the monument to Alexander Nevsky with his squad in the village of Samolva in the Pskov region.
According to the sculptor's idea, St. Olga is a strict and at the same time kind princess, she will motherly welcome tourists and city residents at the airport of Pskov and bless those leaving for a successful journey.
The monument will be installed on the station square as soon as its improvement is completed.
Pskovnewswire reminds that in Pskov there are already two monuments to Princess Olga. One was created by sculptor Vyacheslav Klykov, it was installed on Oktyabrskaya Square in July 2023 during the celebration of the 1100th anniversary of the first mention of Pskov in the annals.
Around the same period of time, the second monument to Princess Olga, by sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, was erected opposite the Rizhskaya Hotel.
