The greatest amount of time to study during the New Year vacations will be devoted by high school students (grades 9-11) - 34% of them will be actively engaged in preparing for exams and improving their knowledge of subjects. This is reported in the study of online school for children and teenagers Skysmart and "SBER EAPTECA", which was reviewed by "Izvestia" on December 28.

According to the study, every fourth student (27%) intends to devote time to preparing for studies, exams or Olympiads during the New Year vacations. Among those who will study during the holidays, the most attention is paid to foreign language (26%) and mathematics (26%), while 19% of respondents are going to study humanities subjects, such as history and social studies.

Besides, 15% of pupils are concerned with preparation in Russian language and literature, and physics and chemistry will be studied by about 8% of children. Computer science and programming (5%) and creative subjects such as drawing and music (2%) close the list.

Experts emphasized that the greatest amount of time to study during the New Year holidays will be spent by high school students (grades 9-11) - 34% of them are actively preparing for exams and tightening subjects. They are followed by middle school students (5-8 grades) - 28% plan to study during the vacations. Younger students (grades 1-4) study less often - only 18% of them intend to devote time to studying during the holidays.

"Winter vacation is an opportunity to reboot, but at the same time a little time can be devoted to study, especially if it is related to preparation for exams or Olympiads. Experts recommend devoting no more than 1-1.5 hours a day to study, for high school students and 30-45 minutes for junior and middle school students," said Skysmart Academic Director Anastasia Ekushevskaya.

In addition to studies, the most popular activity for schoolchildren will be city Christmas trees, performances and festive events - every third pupil (31%) plans to attend them. The second place with a small gap was taken by family recreation at home with watching movies and reading books - (22%). In third place were winter activities such as ice skating, skiing and sledding - one in five families plan to spend their vacations actively (18%).

"Winter vacation is a time of rest and recovery. Outdoor activities and attending holiday events help children switch gears and build up their energy before the new school year. If the child has a need to catch up on knowledge, it is important to organize the educational process so that it does not interfere with rest", - summed up the pharmacist and head of the pharmacy "SBER EAPTECA" Natalia Borisova.

Earlier, December 5, teacher, head of regional teaching of the educational company MAXIMUM Education Victoria Podsukhina told "Izvestia" about how to pass the USE on 80 + points. According to her, it is necessary to allocate a specific number of hours to study each subject per week, while not forgetting about rest and repetition of the material passed.
