Post Bank warns of scammers' tricks on holidays

Fraudsters may become more active during the holidays, as the population loses vigilance in search of gifts and greetings, Post Bank experts said. They told Izvestia on December 27 how to save money and not become an accomplice in the scheme of malefactors.
According to them, one of the fraudulent schemes can be an unexpected transfer of funds from an unknown person. After that, supposedly on his behalf, a person can call and ask to return the money, but for the operation will indicate a different account.
"You should not respond to such a request. After the transfer is made, the recipient can be considered as an accomplice to fraud. In turn, the bank will block the card", - explained in the credit organization.
If an unknown person asks to return the money back to the account, the probability of losing the funds remains. This is due to the fact that the sender has the right to cancel the transfer. First, the victim of fraudsters returns the amount received by "mistake", and then the attacker retrieves it again through the bank, experts clarified.
They emphasized that the most correct way not to be left without funds in both the first and second case - to contact your bank and cancel the operation.
The credit organization also recommended to follow the rules of cybersecurity behavior in the network and be vigilant. In particular, do not follow phishing links, check incoming calls and mailings, as well as never and under any circumstances do not tell third parties confirmation codes received on the phone.
In addition, if you lose your tablet or phone with connected remote banking, you should immediately block the SIM card and contact bank employees.
"Beware of calls from unknown numbers asking you to urgently carry out any actions with your accounts, deposits, cards, etc. The most correct way will be to break off the conversation and, if there are any suspicions, yourself call the official number of the organization on behalf of which the strangers introduced themselves," - concluded in the Post Bank.
Earlier in the day, VTB told Izvestia that attackers under the guise of New Year bonuses or social payments offer users to install the "official application". After downloading it, the fraudsters have access to the phone.
