GP sent to court more than 20 cases against AFU fighters for invading Kursk region


Twenty-one criminal cases have been sent to court against servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) who were captured by the Russian army. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Prosecutor-General's Office on 27 December.
It is specified that the Ukrainian fighters will be convicted for illegal invasion of the territory of the Kursk region.
"The military Prosecutor's office approved indictments in seven criminal cases against terrorists who mined road directions and terrain, repeatedly opened fire on Russian servicemen and civilians," - noted in the Telegram-channel.
The servicemen are charged under the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the commission by a group of persons by prior conspiracy of a terrorist act that caused other grave consequences.
Earlier, on November 17, the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia opened a criminal case against Mikhail Baturin, a citizen of Georgia, on suspicion in absentia of committing a terrorist act and mercenarism. It is also noted that the defendant together with other representatives of mercenary groups in September 2024 illegally crossed the Russian border in Kursk region, using automatic and large-caliber weapons, explosives and military equipment.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
