The US authorities may start energy talks with Russia next year, during which Washington will declare its intention to purchase the Nord Stream gas pipeline in order to manipulate the European Union (EU) countries, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on December 26. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on December 26.

"Then they will declare that they can buy gas from the Russians, but only through an American trader. And then all European countries will buy this gas from the Americans," Vucic said on air of the RTS TV channel.

As the Serbian leader suggested, US President-elect Donald Trump may use blackmail methods in his conversation with the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen in order to conclude such a deal.

"Trump will put the paper down and say, 'You know, we have a $132 billion deficit with Europe and we are defending Europe militarily.' That has to change." Then Ursula, I suppose, as a reasonable woman who wants to ensure the security and stability of the EU, will probably respond, 'We're going to buy gas from the Americans and everybody else,'" the politician pointed out.

Earlier, on November 1, Trump said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that he was the one who "destroyed" the Nord Stream 2 pipeline after he made the decision to block its construction. That same month, The Wall Street Journal reported that one of Trump's campaign donors, American businessman Stephen Lynch, wants to buy Nord Stream 2 at an auction that could take place in Switzerland.

Before that, on October 29, the creator of the Megaupload file-sharing site Kim Dotcom suggested that if Trump takes office again as president of the country, he may arrest the current head of state Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris under him for the terrorist attack on the Nord Stream pipeline. He specified that it would take less than a week to arrest Biden and Harris.

On November 25, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel pointed out that the rejection of Russian gas had caused significant damage to German business and industry. She noted that certain agreements had been reached with U.S. President Biden on the use of Nord Stream 2 if the energy resources were not used as a weapon. As a result, gas never flowed through Nord Stream-2," Merkel concluded.
