Osamu Suzuki, who headed Suzuki for more than 40 years, has passed away


Osamu Suzuki, who led the Japanese automobile company Suzuki for more than 40 years, died at the age of 94 from lymphoma. This was reported on December 27 by the press service of the car company.
The top manager died on December 25. One of the main successes of Osamu Suzuki is called the transformation of Suzuki into one of the world's largest manufacturers of compact cars. Under his leadership, the company began overseas expansion and entered many markets, including Australia, India and Pakistan.
He joined the company in 1958 after marrying the daughter of one of Suzuki's founders. Since there was no male heir in the Suzuki family, Osamu took his wife's last name. In 1978 he became president of the company, and in 2000 he changed this position to the post of chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation.
In 2021, Suzuki announced the retirement of Osamu Suzuki and the transfer of the post to his son Toshihiro Suzuki.
Earlier in the day, Swedish top manager Bo Andersson, who previously served as president of AvtoVAZ and has been CEO of national Uzbek carmaker UzAuto Motors since 2021, announced that he was leaving the company due to fulfillment of all tasks and completion of his contract.
