The Ministry of Justice has added rapper Ligalayz to the register of foreign agents

The Russian Ministry of Justice has added rapper Ligalayz (real name: Andrey Menshikov), media projects "Country and World. Sakharov Review" and "Transparency International - Russia in Exile". The relevant information appeared on December 27 on the official website of the ministry.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the rapper spread misleading information about the decisions made by the public authorities of the Russian Federation and their policies. He also opposed the Special Military Operation (SMO) and participated in the dissemination of messages and materials of the foreign agent for an unlimited number of persons.

In turn, the media projects "Country and World. Sakharov Review" and "Transparency International - Russia in Exile" interacted with organizations that were included in the register of foreign agents.

"Disseminated inaccurate information about the decisions taken by the public authorities of the Russian Federation and the policy pursued by them," the publication says.

In addition, the project "Transparency International - Russia in Exile", according to the agency, opposed the conduct of the SWO.

Earlier, on December 20, Russian journalist Victoria Ivleva-York and lawyer Nikolai Polozov, who once defended the interests of the Pussy Riot group, were included in the register of foreign agents according to the decision of the Russian Ministry of Justice.

The University Transparency Laboratory, bloggers Islam Belokiev and Khasan Uzarov, known in the blogosphere under the pseudonym Khasan Khalitov, were also included in the updated register of foreign agents.

On December 1, 2022, the law regulating the activities of foreign agents came into force in Russia. In case of obtaining this status, a foreign agent, among other things, can no longer receive financial support from the state, participate in government procurement and engage in teaching activities in state institutions. In addition, these persons must inform their employees and the authorities about this status, as well as label the materials they create.
