In Moscow, investigators have completed the investigation of the criminal case against the hacker, who demanded from the information structure company to transfer him 27 million rubles in cryptocurrency for unblocking the system. This is reported in the Telegram-channel of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia on December 27.

The crime was committed in May 2023.

It is reported that the man committed unauthorized access to the information structure of the company's service. At the same time, he used passwords from accounts and with the help of a computer virus blocked client databases with data.
"He made a demand to the management of the service to transfer 27 million rubles in cryptocurrency, promising in return to provide a password to unlock the bases," - stated in the message.

The criminal activity was suppressed by investigators of the capital head of the Investigative Committee of the IC of Russia together with operative officers of the FSB and UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Currently, the case has been transferred to the court.

It is known that the defendant worked as a leading engineer in one of the major IT-companies. After his dismissal, he launched a malicious computer program in the corporate network of his former employer and gained access to the organization's databases, as well as encrypted them.

Earlier, on December 20, in Krasnodar detained a 20-year-old local resident, who is suspected of aiding Ukrainian fraudsters through illegal access to computer information. The attacker purchased from third parties hacked accounts of citizens registered on the Unified portal of state and municipal services.
