- Media have learned about the West's call to Kiev to use ATACMS missiles more sparingly

TheUSA and NATO believe that Ukraine should use the supplied American long-range ATACMS missiles, which are in limited supply, more sparingly. The New York Times reported on December 27.
"U.S. and NATO officials said that, <...> in their opinion, Ukraine could be more prudent about the number of missiles it uses and more selective in choosing targets," the paper said.
According to the publication's sources, when US President Joe Biden authorized Kiev to strike Russian territory with long-range weapons in November, Ukraine had no more than a few dozen such missiles at its disposal.
It is noted that now Kiev's respective stocks are running low, and US President-elect Donald Trump is unlikely to want to help replenish them.
Earlier, on December 16, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said that this year the air defense forces shot down 215 ATACMS missiles of the Ukrainian army. He also pointed to the high efficiency of air defense in the special operation zone.
On the same day, Trump called Biden's decision to authorize Ukraine's missile strikes deep into Russian territories bad and allowed it to be reconsidered. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Republican's position on the matter fully coincides with that of the Russian Federation.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
