Mosaics from the building of the former plant "Moskvich" will be restored

The Moscow Transportation Museum will restore a mosaic from the building of the former Moskvich plant. It was created in 1970-1972 and reflects the history of the enterprise: the panel depicts the process of assembling cars at the plant in different years - from GAZ-A to "Moskvich-408". This is stated in the message of the press service of the Museum, which was received by "Izvestia" on December 27.
Specialists have already dismantled and sent for restoration four mosaic friezes with a total area of 96 square meters, their weight exceeded 7.5 tons. After the work is completed, the mosaics will be placed in the permanent exposition of the Moscow Transport Museum in the building of the former garage of trucks on 27 Novobiazanskaya Street.
The mosaic was made in the workshop of Yuri Regentov, Honored Architect of the RSFSR and winner of state prizes, on behalf of Valentin Kolomnikov, director of the Moskvich plant. The work was located on the facade of the former chassis shop of the Moskvich plant on Volgogradsky Prospekt.
"There are no similar examples of monumental art of the modernist era on the transport theme in Moscow," - emphasized in the press service of the museum.
