Army aviation crews on Mi-28NM helicopters, as part of a mixed tactical group, disrupted the rotation of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) units in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 27.

"In the course of the combat mission to support ground troops, the pilots of the army aviation performed missile launches according to the coordinates of the aviation gunner and destroyed armored vehicles and personnel of the AFU", - stated in the message of the defense department.

It is noted that after the strike, the crews at extremely low altitude performed an anti-missile maneuver and released heat traps that prevent the hit of missiles of the portable anti-aircraft missile system (MANPADS) of the AFU.

Earlier in the day, the Defense Ministry reported that the enemy had lost more than 600 servicemen in Kursk region over the day. It also added that during the fighting in the Kursk direction the enemy lost more than 44,570 soldiers.

On the eve of the surrendered in Kursk region AFU soldier Alexander Tsveli called on fellow soldiers to leave their positions and surrender to the Russian Armed Forces to save their lives.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
