A network of prosthetic and orthopedic rehabilitation centers should be created in Russia's regions. Russian President Vladimir Putin has given such an instruction.

The Russian government and executive bodies of its regions should work on this.

"Develop an action plan to create a network of prosthetic and orthopedic rehabilitation organizations in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in order to ensure accessibility of prosthetic and orthopedic assistance for the disabled," reads the list of presidential instructions published on December 26 on the Kremlin website.

The requirement must be fulfilled by March 1, 2025, and the head of state has appointed Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova and top officials of the country's subjects to be responsible for it.

Another presidential instruction is that with the participation of the Russian Paralympic and Deaflympic Committees, as well as local governments, it is necessary to hold annual multi-stage sports competitions at the federal, regional and municipal levels for the disabled and people with disabilities, including veterans of the special military operation to protect Donbass. It is necessary to determine the volume and sources of funding for such events, providing for monetary rewards for the participants.

Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin and the leadership of the subjects of the country have been appointed responsible for the execution of this order, by September 1, 2025 they should provide the first report, and further they will report on such work once a year.

Earlier, on December 13, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that it had agreed with the Ministry of Education and Science to create a scientific and clinical consortium for the treatment of wounded with mine blast injuries, including special operation fighters. The main goal of the consortium is to improve the advanced achievements of medicine and apply new methods of medical care.

Before that, on December 3, the head of state and government representatives visited JSC "CITO" (Center for Innovative Technologies in Orthopedics), where servicemen are made prostheses and help with rehabilitation. The center produces a variety of high-tech prostheses and orthopedic devices for both lower and upper limbs. The center uses components of its own production, so the prostheses are independent of imports, Gazeta.Ru reports.
