Chinese President Xi Jinping demanded from the Chinese authorities to prevent "crimes against society," which means various attacks of criminals on people. This was reported by the Associated Press agency on December 27.

President of China ordered law enforcers to act more actively to prevent, for example, street attacks with a knife or car collisions with people. Local authorities, responding to the demand, have pledged to work through all types of personal disputes that can provoke aggression in people: from marital disputes to conflicts over inheritance. Such measures should strengthen crime prevention.

The agency cited an example: in the eastern province of Anhui, the leader of the local branch of China's ruling Communist Party visited a police station, a high school and a chemical factory warehouse. At the plant, the politician asked the workers to identify all hidden risks so that various disputes, such as those within families and between neighbors, could be resolved in time. The police and the prosecutor's office made the same statements. In addition, China's Ministry of Justice promised to work on conflict resolution.

On the eve, December 26, the Financial Times reported that China has intensified a nationwide campaign to increase the birth rate. The country's population is shrinking due to aging, low marriage rates and the low number of children born. The authorities have decided to combat this state of affairs by offering parents subsidies and tax cuts, Gazeta.Ru noted.
