To eliminate the consequences of the oil spill, the first batch of sorbent was delivered to the Black Sea coast of Anapa, which will help in cleanup. This was reported to Izvestia on December 27 by the press service of Delovye Linii Group of Companies.

The first batch of sorbent, consisting of 20 tons, has already been handed over to the Rescue Service in Novorossiysk. Another 20 tons are on the way and should arrive in the city on December 28. The remaining 60 tons will be delivered to the region in accordance with agreements with representatives of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The delivered sorbent is safe for animals and people and is also an effective material for water treatment. The properties of the porous material allow it to lock in its structure a wide range of pollutants, including fuel oil.

"The sea continues to throw oil products on the shore, so now it is very important to remove them promptly, without letting them penetrate deep into the soil and sand. We will distribute the delivered sorbent to the areas with the most serious pollution," shared the head of Novorossiysk Rescue Service Alexey Oderov.

The carrier also noted that it will organize transportation of more than 5 thousand respirators for volunteers on the coast. The cargo will be delivered from Vsevolozhsk to Novorossiysk, after which the volunteers will take it to Anapa.

On December 15, Russian tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239 crashed due to bad weather in the Kerch Strait. As a result of the wreck there was a spill of oil products. Volunteers told Izvestia about the problems in clearing the Black Sea coast. According to the coordinators, there is a lack of waterproof bags for collecting fuel oil, personal protective equipment such as respirators and gowns, and there are also problems with the delivery of waste to recycling points.
