Sochi's treasury replenished by 0.5 billion rubles thanks to the resort tax

Sochi in 2024 received more than 533 million rubles due to the federal resort fee project. The sum exceeded the planned figures by 29 million rubles.

The city is recognized as successful in the development of the health resort industry, said Mayor Andrei Proshunin. According to the mayor, the funds received will be used for the improvement of the resort infrastructure.

KrasnodarMedia news agency notes that 19 new hotels and inns have been opened in Sochi this year. The medical and recreational base was expanded by opening two new sanatoriums, including a children's one. It is planned to open new accommodation facilities in 2025. In addition, the authorities are working on increasing the number of recreational areas. It is possible that eight additional territories will be improved in the future.

Sochi will soon welcome a record eight millionth tourist.

At the end of November it was reported that hotel occupancy in the south of Russia was one third higher compared to the north. According to experts of Mantera Group, despite the fact that the resorts of the North-Western Federal District in 2024 received 1 million more tourists than in the Southern Federal District, the latter were able to surpass St. Petersburg and neighboring regions in terms of hotel occupancy. Thus, the Krasnodar Territory led by Sochi, the Republic of Crimea and the Rostov Region accommodated 35% more tourists in hotels than the NWFD.
