Over the past day on Russian roads 293 accidents were recorded, in which 25 people were killed and 358 injured. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Friday, December 27, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 98 accidents involving pedestrians, eight people were killed, another 94 were injured of varying severity. Among the injured 19 children. Of the total number of accidents involving pedestrians, 50 occurred at crosswalks and 48 outside their zone of action.
With the participation of buses on Thursday, 24 accidents were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, while 33 people were injured. The cause of 13 accidents involving buses was the violation of traffic rules by their drivers. Also for the past day with the participation of minors recorded 29 accidents, as a result of which there were no children killed, 31 young road users were injured.
An accident at a railroad crossing, which claimed the lives of two people, occurred at night in Svetlograd, Stavropol Krai. The driver of a passenger car entered the railroad crossing at a prohibited traffic signal, and his car collided with a diesel locomotive. As a result of the accident, the driver and one of his passengers died, another passenger of the passenger car was injured and hospitalized.
The traffic police urged drivers to be more vigilant when crossing railroad crossings and to comply with traffic rules. The agency reminded that this is one of the most dangerous sections of the road. In order not to get into an accident at a railroad crossing, the driver should follow a few basic rules. First of all, when approaching the crossing it is necessary to reduce speed.
You should only start driving through the crossing when the barrier is open and the signaling system is turned off. If at least one of the signaling systems is switched on (light or sound), it is forbidden to move through the crossing even when the barrier is open. It should be remembered that, in any case, approaching the crossing, regardless of the position of the barrier and signaling, the driver must make sure that there is no approaching train and only then enter the crossing.
"Particularly dangerous is an inconsiderate exit at an unregulated railroad crossing. The driver must be extremely careful in the dark, as well as in conditions of limited visibility: in rain, fog, snowfall. A forced stop at a railroad crossing, even a brief one, is also extremely dangerous, as it creates a real threat of collision with a train. In such a situation, the driver must immediately drop people out of the car and remove them to a safe distance, and then take measures to clear the crossing - try to tow or push the vehicle off the rails," said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of propaganda of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.
On the eve of the State Automobile Inspectorate announced that the event "Velokuryer" will be held throughout Moscow from December 27 to 29. It is aimed at preventing violations among delivery drivers on bicycles, including electric ones.
