Swedish top manager Bo Andersson, who has served as CEO of national Uzbek carmaker UzAuto Motors since 2021, is leaving the company due to the fulfillment of all tasks and completion of his contract. He said this at a meeting with the company's management, the press service of UzAuto Motors told Izvestia on December 27.

Andersson said that the company has fulfilled the goal set for it and its CEO by the leadership of Uzbekistan. The results of 2024 have not been summarized yet, but the results of 2022 and 2023 show that UzAuto Motors was able to solve the task of increasing production of passenger cars, improving their quality and expanding the model range.

Thus, in 2022, the company set a production record, when 327.6 thousand cars rolled off the assembly line. In 2023, a new record was set - 395.4 thousand cars. Under Andersson's leadership, the company's net profit averaged over 7%, and in 2023 it amounted to 7.2% ($333 million).

Andersson called the launch of mass production of two popular models - the Chevrolet Tracker crossover and the Chevrolet Onix sedan - one of the most important achievements in 3.5 years. This became possible thanks to the manufacturer's transition to the GM GEM (Global Emerging Markets platform from U.S. General Motors).

Car production in Uzbekistan is a full-cycle process - welding, stamping, painting and assembly. Engines are produced at the UzAuto Motors Powertrain plant, which is located in Tashkent. It is noted that the level of localization of automotive production in Uzbekistan exceeds 70%.

Earlier in the day it became known that Bo Andresson resigned as CEO of UzAuto Motors. From 2009 to 2013, he headed in Russia "GAZ Group", became president of AvtoVAZ in 2014, and in 2016 he left this position.
