By mid-December, the Russian film distribution market exceeded RUB 43 billion, of which RUB 33 billion was made up of domestically produced films. Thus, in comparison with the same period last year, box office receipts increased by 16%, and Russian movie box office receipts increased by 24%. This was told in an interview with "Izvestia" on December 27 by the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova.

"I will remind you that additional tools of state support for the movie theater industry made it possible to reach pre-sanctions market indicators already in 2023. Last year's collections were at the level of 2021: 40.7 billion rubles in 2021 and 39 billion rubles in 2023. <...> Our film distribution market has managed not only to adapt quickly to the conditions of the sanctions, but also to demonstrate significant success, thanks in large part to Russian films. At the end of this year, the total volume of the film distribution market will amount to 45 billion rubles", - said the Minister.

The head of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation noted that the Department annually conducts a competitive selection of applications from film organizations applying for subsidies from the federal budget. This year 151 projects out of 1147 applications were supported.

"These are multi-genre films aimed at strengthening spiritual and moral values, devoted to military-patriotic issues and historical memory, as well as popular science and industrial cinema. In 2025, the Russian Ministry of Culture will provide financial support for the production of at least 140 national films," Lyubimova added.
