A new protected area - a natural monument appeared in Transbaikalia

A new specially protected natural area of regional significance has appeared in Transbaikalia. The nature monument "Norbo-Banzad" is located 20 km away from the land park "Tuzhi" in Khiloksky district of the region.
Irina Voronina, head of the Department of Environmental Protection of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources, said that the most important object of "Norbo-Banzad" is a massive old-growth cedar. The diameter of its trunk reaches 1.4 meters. The tree has a sacred significance; it is a place of worship for local Buddhists.
According to Voronina's words, cited by ChitaMedia news agency, according to the traditions of Buddhist monks, there are only three such places in the world. Between them they form a sacred triangle.
Hundreds of pilgrims visit "Norbo-Banzad" every year, the agency notes.
Earlier, on December 20, it was reported that in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District almost 5 thousand tourists have visited specially protected natural areas since the beginning of 2024. The most popular natural park was "Ingilor". More than 4 thousand people traveled there from January to November.
