"Avtotor" will launch a new auto component plant in early 2025


Kaliningrad-based Avtotor is launching a new facility to produce electronic control units for cars. The first stage of the plant is scheduled to reach its production capacity in the first quarter of 2025, according to the company's statement, which was received by Izvestia on December 27.
Installation of the equipment of the first stage has been completed at the plant and commissioning works have begun. At the first stage it is planned to set up production of telematics systems, devices with the function of calling emergency services, control units of the electronic system of dynamic stabilization of the car, as well as power electronics for electric vehicles. The equipment for the plant was purchased with the support of the Industry Development Fund.
The capacity of the enterprise allows it to produce up to 1 million products per year. Contracts have already been signed for the supply of devices for the ERA-GLONASS system and telematics unit, which are planned to be used to equip part of the model range of cars produced at the Avtotor plant.
The company stressed that the production of electronic control systems opens up new opportunities to deepen localization. The plant will employ 96 people. The total area of the plant is almost 5 thousand square meters. m.
On December 3, it was reported that Avtotor will start production of a small electric car in the II-III quarters of 2025. The first pre-production copies will be produced by the end of 2024 on the basis of the Moscow Polytechnic.
On August 28, Avtotor started production of a test batch of electric motors at the new plant. The plant's production capacity is designed to produce 60 thousand electric motors per year. The range includes motors with power from 23 to 140 kW (31-190 hp) for various types of electric passenger cars.
