Former head of AvtoVAZ quits as CEO of UzAuto Motors


Former president of AvtoVAZ Bo Andersson has left the post of CEO of Uzbek automobile company UzAuto Motors. This was reported on December 27 by Telegram-channel "Autopotok" with reference to a source in the company.
The Swedish top manager held this post for 3.5 years. It is noted that under his leadership the company implemented an investment project to launch production of cars on the platform of General Motors (Chevrolet Onix and Chevrolet Tracker), as well as significantly increased the total volume of car production.
Bo Andersson headed GAZ Group in Russia from 2009 to 2013, he became president of AvtoVAZ in 2014 and left the post in 2016. During this time, AvtoVAZ produced the Lada Vesta and XRay models. Andersson's successor as head of the Russian car company was Frenchman Nicolas Mor.
According to UzAuto Motors, the company is the leader in the Uzbek market, in January - November 2024, almost 375 thousand cars were sold in the country.
Earlier in the day, AvtoVAZ said it would suspend production of cars from December 29 to January 12 next year. During the New Year vacations, the company will carry out more than 9 thousand works aimed at improving working conditions, preventive maintenance of equipment and modernization of technologies in connection with the launch of new models.
