The Sretensky Monastery Choir performed the song "Horse" by the band "Lyube"

The choir of the Sretensky Monastery performed the folk hit of the Lyube band - the song "Horse". According to music critics, it almost immediately became the unofficial anthem of Russia.
"The song "Horse", having appeared on the wonderful album "Lube's Zone", caused and still causes wonderful feelings. It immediately became folk, simple and understandable to a Russian person. There were "arrangements" of this song for choirs, but in them the authors of these performances did not follow the original version very closely. And I volunteered to make a version that would more accurately correspond to the original song", - said the artistic director of the choir of the Sretensky Monastery Andrei Poltorukhin.
According to him, the monastery choir sings the legendary song in the new arrangement.
1993 and 1994 were turbulent years in the history of Russia: the putsch and the storming of the White House, the Yugoslav crisis, the first Chechen war, the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Karabakh war. It was at that moment, when "the planet is burning and spinning," that composer Igor Matvienko and songwriter Alexander Shaganov gave birth to the song "Horse," cover versions of which are recorded in different languages around the world.
"The first thing I had was this refrain, this chant: 'We'll go with the horse across the field together, we'll go with the horse across the field together.' I didn't even know who I was going to do this song for - the first version had a rather modern beat, with this Russian "chorus". But when I started to work on the melody, to develop the song, for some reason I wanted to make it a cappella, without instruments," Matvienko said.
Then he showed the result to choirmaster Nikolai Kuleshov. And suggested that a choir be assembled especially for this song. After the melody was given to Shaganov, and he composed verses on this musical formula.
"Such a very simple story made and with dramaturgy, development at the end: "I'm in love with you, Russia, in love!". I started small and came to images of a cosmic scale. That's probably why the song took place," Matvienko said.
One of the first performances of "Konya" was at the festival "Star Surf" in Sevastopol. According to the composer, the leader of the group "Lyube" Nikolai Rastorguev during the performance of the song then felt so much that tears came to his eyes.
"It was August 1993. Then I wrote two, probably, my main songs - "Batyanya Kombat" and "Horse". After its release it sounded not only in the repertoire of "Lyube", but also in the performance of a huge number of choral groups: military, student, amateur, academic. So unique was "The Horse". Every week I get news from him. Then some child performs it, or some overseas choir. One person once told me: "There is the anthem of the country, and there is the anthem of the people", - said Alexander Shaganov.
Earlier, December 6, it was reported that in the album-tribute "Lube". 35. Everything starts again..." included the hit of the group "There, behind the mists", which was performed by singer Elena Vaenga. Many listeners consider it a "military" hit, but it belongs to the "heroic-patriotic" genre only in a certain part. The rest of the song is dedicated to ordinary Russians.
Before that, on November 29, it became known that the first single from the album was the song "Station "Taganskaya" performed by rock musician Garik Sukachev. The musician shared that he perfectly remembers the first songs of "Lyube" and knows Rastorguev more than 40 years.
Tribute "Lyube. 35. Everything starts again..." - is a reinterpretation of the band's songs by other musicians in their signature style. The idea to record such an album appeared more than a year ago, and more than 50 performers and bands of different generations and genres took part in the work on it.
