Members of an Islamist cell who were preparing a terrorist attack on a police station have been liquidated in Moscow

Members of the cell of the international terrorist organization "Islamic State" (banned in Russia) in Afghanistan - "Wilayat Khorasan" (banned in Russia), who were preparing an explosion in one of the police departments of the capital, were killed during detention in Moscow. This was reported in the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the FSB on December 27.

It is specified that the attackers collected data on the department of the Russian Interior Ministry in Moscow. Later, they purchased a car and placed propane gas cylinders in it, after which they proceeded to make an improvised explosive device (IED).

"When detained, the terrorists offered armed resistance to the Russian Federal Security Service officers and as a result were neutralized by return fire," - stated in the message of the agency.

On the fact of the incident, a criminal case was opened under articles on the preparation of a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy or an organized group and participation in the activities of a terrorist organization banned in Russia.

The law enforcers found and seized firearms, ammunition, as well as components of an IED at the place of residence of the defendants. The investigation into the criminal case continues.

Earlier, on December 25, in the Moscow region prevented a terrorist attack by the special services of Ukraine against the head of the defense enterprise. At the moment detained seven Russian citizens living in Moscow, Sverdlovsk regions and Perm Krai, three of them minors. A criminal case under part 3 of article 30 and part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempt to commit a terrorist act as part of a group of persons by prior conspiracy") has been opened against the defendants.
