Khabarovsk man faces 7 years in prison for felling a forest

In Khabarovsk Krai, during the operational and preventive measures "Les-2024", a 59-year-old resident of Nanai District was detained for clearing the road to the production site from the forest with a bulldozer. He turned out to be the foreman of the logging site, but he did not have any authorization documents for such work.

It turned out that the detainee bulldozed 79 trees of valuable species, including spruce, birch, alder, cedar, white fir, aspen, maple, Manchurian ash. The damage from his actions was estimated at about 225 thousand rubles, specifies IA AmurMedia with reference to the press service of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in Khabarovsk Krai.

The criminal case was initiated under the article "Illegal cutting of forest plantations". The suspect faces imprisonment for up to seven years. A measure of restraint in the form of subscription not to leave has been chosen against him.

Earlier, December 27, head of the Federal Forestry Agency (Rosleskhoz) Ivan Sovetnikov reminded that the law stipulates liability for the illegal cutting of Christmas trees.
