Deputy Mayor Sergunina spoke about volunteers of Moscow's cultural heritage

Dozens and even hundreds of Moscow residents of different ages have joined the volunteer corps, which is engaged in the preservation and popularization of the historical and cultural heritage of the capital in recent years. This was told by Deputy Mayor Natalya Sergunina.

According to her, acting under the auspices of the capital's Department of Cultural Heritage volunteers take care of architectural monuments, are engaged in archaeological excavations and organization of events.

"Over the year, cultural heritage volunteers became participants in 1.5 thousand actions and other events. Compared to 2023 the number of events has almost doubled," - said Sergunina.

In particular, for the Day of the archaeologist volunteers under the guidance of experts put in order fragments of the foundation of the fortress wall of the White city of the XVI century on Khokhlovskaya square. Also, for example, the volunteers cleaned sculptures on the territory of the Usachevs' - Naydenovs' manor.
In addition, activists helped to organize the excursion program of the Heritage Youth Forum, the events of the exhibition-forum "Russia", the festival "Summer in Moscow. Everyone on the street!" and the forum-festival "Territory of the Future. Moscow 2030".

In Moscow 2024, a volunteer school was opened, created by the capital's Department of Cultural Heritage, the resource center "Mosvolonter" and the State Research Institute of Restoration. The school offers lectures and practical training in two areas - restoration and archaeology.
