Shoigu and Kurenkov laid flowers at the complex of monuments of the Russian Emergencies Ministry

Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu and the head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Alexander Kurenkov on December 27 laid flowers at the monuments to the Hero of Russia, ex-head of the Emergencies Ministry, Army General Yevgeny Zinichev and the monuments "Firefighters and Rescuers" and "Veterans of the Russian Emergencies Ministry" in Dmitry Mikhailik's square on Kremenchugskaya Street in Moscow.

The event is timed to coincide with the Day of the Rescuer, which is celebrated in the Russian Federation on December 27.

"On this day, the Russian Emergencies Ministry pays tribute to veterans and all personnel for selfless labor. The memory of our fallen colleagues lives in our hearts," Kurenkov noted.

Wreaths and red roses were laid to the sound of the Russian national anthem.

The event was attended by heads of the Emergencies Ministry and Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation, veterans, cadets of higher educational institutions of the departments and guests of honor. They also laid flowers at the monuments.

Earlier in the day Kurenkov congratulated the personnel of the Emergencies Ministry on this holiday. The Minister emphasized that the employees of the department demonstrate an example of selfless labor, dedication and constant desire to protect Russians and ensure their safety. Kurenkov said that in 2024 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations rescued almost 58 thousand people, and evacuated 374 thousand more. This is more than last year. The Minister explained that this happened because of large-scale spring floods and evacuation of residents from Kursk and Belgorod regions.

At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated veterans and personnel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations on the Day of the Rescuer. The head of state pointed out that a lot of work had been done in recent years to organize the work of the department's units in the historically Russian regions of Donbass and Novorossiya.
