AvtoVAZ will suspend production for 15 days

AvtoVAZ will suspend car production from December 29 to January 12 next year. During the New Year vacations, the company will carry out more than 9 thousand works aimed at improving working conditions, preventive maintenance of equipment and modernization of technologies in connection with the launch of new models, the company's press service reported on December 27.
These 15 days include official vacations and planned unified corporate vacation (January 9-12). The company noted that the warehouses and sites of dealer centers have accumulated a sufficient stock of finished cars for continuous sales.
Much of the work is related to the upcoming launch of Lada Iskra: production preparation will take place in welding, painting and assembly shops. Modernization of engine production lines is planned for the launch of a new 1.8-liter engine for the Lada Niva family. Work will also be carried out at metallurgical production and chassis production.
In addition, a number of divisions of AvtoVAZ will start repair of living quarters, roofing, replacement of flooring from metal to polymer, replacement of lighting with LED, reconstruction of glazing, repair of canteens and other works. Repair and maintenance of equipment will also be carried out at the sites of "Lada Izhevsk" and "VIS-Auto".
On the eve of the head of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov said that in early 2026 the company will begin production of crossovers. It is known that the new Lada parketnik will be built on the basis of the Vesta model. Its first public presentation will be held in the summer of 2025 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
On December 23, AvtoVAZ launched commercial production of the classic SUV Lada Niva in a new Sport modification. At the first stage, all Niva Sport produced will be delivered to the relevant functional divisions of AvtoVAZ for testing and confirmation of design characteristics.
