More than 20 fake charity websites have been discovered in Russia


Specialists of the company F.A.C.C.T., which is engaged in combating cybercrime, have detected more than 20 sites disguised as charitable foundations and resources for collecting donations. Representatives of the company told RIA Novosti on December 27 .
"The company's employees found 21 active domains that masqueraded as the specified charitable foundations and fundraising resources," the company said.
In addition, cybersecurity experts noted that the attackers used photos of real people from social networks to collect funds from concerned citizens.
Moreover, it is known that the domain sites were registered in such a way that they were similar and consonant with the names of the funds. Fraudsters completely copied the design and content of official organizations.
It is specified that the attackers carried out their criminal activities from the territory of other countries. Thus, for example, they disguised their site as one of the Russian charitable organizations engaged in helping children with disabilities and their families, temporary accommodation facilities in border regions of Russia and people who suffered in terrorist attacks.
Earlier, on December 26, "Izvestia" reported that scammers became more active on the eve of the New Year. In the arsenal of attackers now has artificial intelligence. Digital assistants increase the "efficiency" of deception. Neural networks "help" in the creation of phishing emails and websites. The goal of attackers is to get hold of citizens' personal data.
