Bashkiria's ex-transport minister faces final charges

The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation has completed the investigation of the criminal case of taking a bribe on a particularly large scale against the former Minister of Transport and Road Facilities of the Republic of Bashkortostan Alexander Klebanov, who testified against the acting Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Alan Marzayev, follows from the materials of the criminal case, which were familiarized by Izvestia.

"Since the previous extension of the measure of restraint in the criminal case, the following investigative and other procedural actions have been carried out: Klebanov A. V. was charged in the final version and questioned in the specified status, answers to previously sent requests were received, the property of the accused was seized, other investigative and procedural actions were carried out," the documents said.

The case materials also say that Marzaev stated in the courtroom at the last hearing on the extension of the preventive measure that his criminal case is of a contractual nature, "as provocations were planned against him, and the protocols of witnesses' interrogation, presented to the court, are not confirmed by anything and are unsubstantiated".

In this regard, his lawyers asked for a change of restraint to bail or house arrest. At the same time, criminalists have already analyzed the money seized during Marzayev's arrest. The arrest of the ex-officer was extended until February 28, 2025.

Earlier, October 3, Alexander Klebanov pleaded guilty to taking a bribe on a particularly large scale. The ex-minister also concluded a pre-trial agreement on cooperation and testified that another person was involved in the crime.

The detention of Klebanov became known on May 7. He was accused in the case of bribery on a particularly large scale in the distribution of contracts for the repair of roads in the region. It was noted that the case has been under investigation for a long time, it has many defendants.

According to the investigation, in 2021 JSC "Bashkiravtodor" concluded a contract with a commercial organization for the transportation of road-building materials on the reconstruction of one of the roads in the region. In May 2023, Klebanov, being a member of the board of directors of the company, demanded 5 million rubles from the general director of the trucking company and his deputy for general patronage.
