Crews of T-80BVM tanks of the motorized rifle unit of the 58th Combined Arms Army of the Dnipro group of troops have struck the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Orekhovsky direction in the Zaporizhzhya region.

"We shoot like artillery. We arrive at night at already given coordinates, take aim, open fire, shoot back and leave," said a tank commander with the call sign Lex.

The tankers provided fire support to motorized rifle units in the Zaporizhzhya direction. The coordinates of the targets were received from drone operators performing reconnaissance in the tank unit's area of responsibility.

After that, the crews promptly moved to the area where the combat mission was to be accomplished and with a series of accurate shots covered several fortified enemy firing points.

The results of the firing on the targets were recorded by unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators.

Earlier, the Defense Ministry showed how intensive training of tank crews, infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers (APCs) takes place in the training center of the Southern Military District (SMD) stationed in the Krasnodar region. The agency noted that the personnel are trained from two weeks to several months.

Before that, on December 21, it became known that the Russian Armed Forces (AF) destroyed a Leopard tank of the AFU in Kharkiv region. The enemy tank was detected in the course of reconnaissance by operators of unmanned aerial vehicles of the group of troops "West" when leaving the shelter.

On the eve of the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian army destroyed a T-72 tank of the enemy in Kharkiv region. It was specified that the crew of the Ukrainian tank failed to move the combat vehicle away from a precision strike, as a result of which it was stopped.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
