The first ice crossing across the Hidden Bay in the Olyutorsky municipal district opened in Kamchatka on Friday, December 27. This was reported in the press service of the department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in the Kamchatka region.

"On Kamchatka opened an ice crossing through the Hidden Bay, Korfa Bay, between the villages of Korf and Tilichiki in the Olyutorsk municipal district. The ice thickness in the bay is 50-55 cm, the movement of vehicles weighing up to 7 tons is allowed," the ministry said in a statement.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations added that the ice road is equipped with emergency equipment. Information boards with the rules of crossing, road signs are installed on the approach to it.

Four more crossings are expected to be put into operation in the near future.

Meanwhile, in Yakutia ice crossings opened in early December. Among the first crossings across the Lena River in the direction of Khatassy - Pavlovsk and across the Vilyui River on the Vilyui highway started operating.
