The ZALA unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the Zapad group of forces helped the servicemen of an artillery unit to detect and destroy a Polish-made self-propelled artillery unit Krab of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the zone of the special military operation (SMO). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 27.

"We are firing artillery, artillery correction. These drones (ZALA. - Ed.) have a very good zoom, HD camera. From high altitude we can observe the same mortars, enemy infantry, enemy rotation," said the UAV operator with the call sign Bars.

The UAV account helped the artillerymen to detect and destroy the self-propelled artillery unit Krab of the AFU in one of the directions in the area of the SSE.

The ministry noted that the prompt destruction of the detected targets will allow the assault units to conduct offensive actions, depriving the enemy of the opportunity to strike at groups of Russian infantry.

Moreover, ZALA UAVs allow for round-the-clock surveillance of the terrain. The units have no problems with the supply of reconnaissance and combat drones.

Earlier, on December 24, the Russian Armed Forces' (RFAF) "North" troop grouping hit a pickup truck with AFU's manpower in Sumy region with an FPV drone calculation. A direct hit on the target was recorded.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which the Russian Federation announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
