The soccer club Zarya of the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) dreams of a return of big soccer to its home stadium Avangard, and also aspires to become a member of the Russian Football Union (RFU) in order to start playing in the Russian second division, following the example of teams from Crimea. This was revealed to Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak on December 27.

After fighting began in Donbass 10 years ago, the flagship of Luhansk soccer left the Avangard stadium and went to Zaporozhye to continue participating in the Ukrainian championship. At that time, the management changed the letter "a" in the club's name to "o", and the city of Lugansk added a soft sign on the emblem: "Zorya Lugansk" became "Zorya Lugansk".

Footballer Artur Uvarov then had to leave and spend almost 10 years in the "youth" of Dynamo Kyiv. But after February 24, 2022 he was not allowed to play for the Ukrainian grandee.

"There was a choice put in front of me - either you support, officially say that you support Ukraine in this military conflict. Or, we understand everything perfectly well, it will be better for us if we split up," commented Uvarov.

Transiting through several teams of the second Russian league, Uvarov found himself in his native Lugansk and became the leader of Zarya.

For a year now the Black and Whites have been participating in the Commonwealth League, a tournament that brought together teams from Novorossiya and Crimea. Now Zorya is actively applying to the Russian Football Union (RFU) to start playing in the Russian second division, following the example of teams from Crimea.

Earlier, on November 27, a tour for young footballers from the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) took place in Moscow at the CSKA Museum of Sporting Glory. During the excursion, the young athletes were told the history of the CSKA army sports club, which celebrated its 100th anniversary this year.
