Head of Rosleskhoz names regions that failed the forest fire season

Some regions failed to cope with the forest fire season in 2024. Ivan Sovetnikov, head of the Federal Forestry Agency (Rosleskhoz), told Izvestia.
Almost 90% of this year's fires occurred in five regions of the Far East, said the head of Rosleskhoz. First of all, on Yakutia and Transbaikal Territory.
"If Yakutia as a whole kept within the predicted indicators, then in Transbaikalia there was a failure of the year. This region, like a textbook, has collected all possible mistakes," he said.
The region was poorly prepared for the season, hid fires, requested assistance from federal forces late, and did not control finances, emphasized Counselors. The region's natural resources minister has already been fired, he emphasized.
"We make big statistics on all regions at the end of the year. We approach it fairly honestly. For example, large and complex fires were in the Crimea. And in general, the region did well, worked well. But there is an anti-example - Samara, where everything is exactly the opposite. The conditions there are relatively calm, with good transportation accessibility. At the same time there was a major fire, which was "heroically" extinguished for two weeks," added the head of the Federal Forestry Agency.
According to him, there were specific managerial mistakes made there too.
