The incidence of influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections has been decreasing for several weeks in a row, now it is below the weekly epidemic threshold by 17.8%. This follows from the data of the Research Institute of Influenza.

According to the therapist Svetlana Kanevskaya, the lower peak of morbidity this year is due to weather conditions and the formed immune layer at the expense of those who overdosed.

"This year the summer was warm and sunny, as well as the fall. The body had time to accumulate more vitamin D, which activates the immune system <...> Also this season there are no severe mutated highly contagious viruses. Our immune system meets already known viruses, to which we have antibodies, and the disease in some people can be asymptomatic," she said.

Svetlana Kanevskaya also noted that those who have the disease in a hidden form are not included in the statistics, which is also reflected in the morbidity rate.

Decrease in morbidity is also due to the sufficient level of vaccination of the population against influenza, added Marina Berezhnaya, a general practitioner and head of the emergency and urgent care department of the European Medical Center.

Usually, the morbidity rate decreases during the New Year vacations, when people leave for the holidays and stay in mini-groups with relatives and friends, Kanevskaya recalled.

Experts expect the next spike in incidence in January-February.
