Lieutenant Viktor Kurilov accurately calculated the coordinates of the movement of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) equipment, which prevented the enemy from taking cover from the fire of Russian artillerymen. On Friday, December 27, the Russian Defense Ministry told about new feats of Russian servicemen in the zone of the special military operation (SMO).

Having received the coordinates of the Ukrainian troops, the artillerymen quickly and accurately aimed their guns and opened fire on the targets. Having suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment, the AFU began to retreat in a hurry. Continuing to conduct aerial reconnaissance, Kurilov promptly adjusted artillery fire on the retreating Ukrainian fighters.

The Russian Defense Ministry also noted the courage and decisive actions of junior sergeant Roman Mayorov, who decided to ambush the AFU sabotage group on its way towards the Russian troops' positions.

Having moved stealthily, the sergeant set up a place for firing and, once the AFU group was in the sector, began firing at it. Within minutes, the sabotage unit suffered heavy losses: the AFU servicemen fled, leaving the wounded behind.

Earlier, on December 26, the Russian Defense Ministry described how Sergeant Dmitry Sorokovoy, while under AFU fire, evacuated seriously wounded servicemen to a shelter, where he subsequently provided them with first aid and organized their evacuation.

Prior to that, on December 25, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Private Ivan Vladimirov had hit a machine gun crew and some infantry of the AFU. Despite numerical superiority, the Ukrainian militants suffered significant losses and retreated.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
