Putin congratulates EMERCOM veterans and personnel on Rescuer's Day

Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 27 congratulated veterans and personnel of the Emergency Situations Ministry on the Day of the Rescuer.
"Dear comrades, dear veterans, I heartily congratulate you on the holiday - Rescuer's Day! Emergencies Ministry employees rightfully enjoy well-deserved recognition and respect in our society," he said.
The President noted that employees of the rescue services, acting competently as a single coordinated team, eliminate the consequences of natural and man-made emergencies, monitor compliance with safety requirements and proper operation of important facilities.
"The long history of the Ministry of Emergency Situations is full of examples of heroism and courage of rescuers, medical workers, firefighters, psychologists and other specialists. Russian rescuers are still a reliable link in Russia's security system," Putin pointed out.
The President emphasized that this year employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations showed high professionalism in dealing with the consequences of large-scale floods in the Kurgan, Orenburg and Tyumen regions, as well as in fighting natural fires in Eastern Siberia, Primorye and the Volga region.
"I will especially note the help you have provided and are providing to civilians, children, the elderly, women in Kursk region," he added.
Putin reminded that there are many significant issues in the zone of responsibility of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. According to him, as before, the most serious attention requires supervision over the safety of schools, universities, hospitals and other social institutions, as well as places of mass stay of people.
In addition, the president pointed to the importance of systematic work on fire prevention.
"I note that much has been done in recent years to organize the work of EMERCOM units in the historic Russian regions of Donbass and Novorossiya," the Russian leader said.
Among the key tasks Putin named further technical equipment of the agency, improvement of the civil defense system and strengthening social guarantees for EMERCOM employees and their families.
"Once again I congratulate veterans and personnel of the Emergencies Ministry on the holiday and by tradition - with the coming year 2025. I wish you good health and new results in service, prosperity and success to your loved ones!" - concluded the President.
Every year on December 27, employees of the Emergencies Ministry and other services involved in the prevention and elimination of emergencies celebrate their professional holiday in Russia. In 2024, it falls on Friday. Rescuers' Day was established in 1995 by a decree of the Russian President in honor of the establishment of the Russian Rescue Corps (RRC) on December 27, 1990. It was the predecessor of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), which was officially established in 1994.
