Moscow police detained a man who attacked a subway passenger at Tverskaya station with a hammer after he heard a remark against him. According to the Russian Interior Ministry on December 26, the attacker is a 34-year-old native of the Arkhangelsk region.

The incident occurred last night on the escalator of the Zamoskvoretskaya line station. The passenger made a remark to another man, who hit him with his bag. After that, the one took out a hammer from his backpack and aggressively struck the offender on the head and arm, then quickly fled.

"The victim was examined by the medics who arrived at the station and sent to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a bruised wound of the parietal region," - specified law enforcement officers.

The attacker was detained a few hours later on hot tracks at the place of his actual residence in the south of the capital. Employees of the Department of Internal Affairs on the Moscow subway brought the perpetrator to the department. On interrogation it turned out that the man is a furniture assembler, and the hammer is his working tool, which is always with him. He indicated that he used the hammer after another passenger began to chase him for hitting him with a backpack.

A criminal case has been opened under part 2 of article 115 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Intentional infliction of minor harm to health"). The defendant is on a recognizance not to leave.

Prior to that, on September 10, a criminal case was opened in Moscow on the fact of hooliganism in the subway, reported the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee in the capital. As it is specified, information about the incident in the lobby of the metro station "Elektrozavodskaya" was revealed in the course of Internet monitoring. An intoxicated man attacked the subway staff, the Investigative Committee noted. The criminal case is being investigated on the grounds of a crime under Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Hooliganism").
