Three people were killed and 11 injured after an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) airstrike on Sana'a International Airport in Yemen, among the injured was the assistant captain of a United Nations (UN) plane. This was reported by the Arabic TV channel Al Mayadeen on December 26.

"The assistant captain of the UN plane was wounded after the Israeli aggression at the airport, and two airport employees were killed," the media outlet's Telegram channel indicated.

According to the channel, the director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Ghebreyesus was at the airport at the time of the Israeli air attack.

Earlier on December 26, The Time of Israel reported that the Israeli Air Force (IAF) carried out a series of massive strikes on Yemen. It was specified that an airbase and an airport in northern Sanaa were hit. The port of Hodeidah in the west of the country was also attacked.

On December 21, it was reported that Yemen launched a strike on Tel Aviv, which injured 30 people. The IDF launched an investigation into the reasons for the failure to intercept a missile launched from Yemen.

Prior to that, on December 19, Yahya Sari, a military spokesman for Yemen's Ansar Allah (Houthis) movement, said that the missile forces carried out a drone attack on a target located in Tel Aviv. He emphasized that the Houthis will stop their attacks the moment Israel's aggression in the Gaza Strip stops.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected Israel's territory to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
