Pumpkin is rich in vitamins and minerals: it contains vitamins A, C, E, K and group B, as well as minerals such as potassium, magnesium and iron. Nutriciologist Zhanna Antonyuk told Izvestia on December 27 about the useful properties of pumpkin.

According to the expert, pumpkin has significant antioxidant properties: a large amount of beta-carotene and other antioxidants helps protect cells from free radical damage. In addition, pumpkin is useful for the gastrointestinal tract, as it contains a lot of fiber, which improves digestion and prevents constipation.

Pumpkin is low in calories while being high in fiber, so it can be beneficial for those who want to control their weight. The potassium in pumpkin helps regulate blood pressure and keep your heart healthy.

"Pumpkin is not recommended for people with an exacerbation of gastritis or stomach ulcers and those who are allergic to it. With diabetes, it is important to monitor the amount of pumpkin consumed to prevent sudden changes in blood sugar levels," Antonyuk summarized.

Earlier, on December 24, the founder of the DNAOM laboratory Andrey Isaev told "Izvestia" about what vitamins the body needs in winter and examples of products that contain them. According to him, vitamin A (retinol) improves eyesight, maintains healthy skin and strengthens immunity. It is found in carrots, pumpkin, spinach, broccoli, liver and eggs.
