Both black boxes were found at the site of the plane crash of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) in Kazakhstan's Aktau. This was reported on December 26 by the transport prosecutor of Magnistau region of Kazakhstan Abylaibek Ordabaev at a briefing of the government commission to investigate the causes of the accident.

"The inspection of the accident site, which is about 4 thousand square meters, is almost complete. Two flight recorders have been found at the site," Informburo.kz quoted him as saying.

He added that the authorities have secured the entire crash site, all items and physical evidence. They have also finished interrogating the victims, employees of ground services, and are establishing the identities of all eyewitnesses to the tragedy. Kazakhstani specialists are working in close cooperation with colleagues from Russia and Azerbaijan.

Earlier in the day, the Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev said that before the plane crash in Aktau, the crew made two attempts to land the aircraft on the runway of the city airfield. He added that the crashed airplane was flying with faulty control systems.

A passenger plane of AZAL Airlines, heading on the Baku-Grozny route, crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau on December 25. After the crash, the plane caught fire. Preliminary, the cause of the fall of the airplane could be a collision with a flock of birds. After the crash, a criminal case was initiated.

On board, according to the list of AZAL, there were 62 passengers and five crew members. According to the latest data, seven Russians were killed, nine survived and hospitalized. Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev came to the victims of the plane crash. AZAL has suspended flights from Baku to Grozny and Makhachkala until the investigation is completed.

On December 26, a special aircraft of the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered nine injured Russians, including a child, to Moscow. By now, they have all been taken to Moscow and federal institutions.
